Mini biscornu keyring wedding favour sample

Front and back views of original mock-up

First 36 faces of new design (enough for 18 of the 30 required favours)

Original design by Kell Smurthwaite ©

My friend, who is getting married in September, fell in love with my tiny biscornu scissors fob and mentioned she’d possibly like something similar as her wedding favours. So, I put together a simple design and quickly stitched this little number as an example for her, with the initials of both her and her intended on one side and Sep 2009 on the other.

It’s stitched on white 16-count aida in Anchor 101 (which matches the colour of the bridesmaids’ dresses) and I added a border of clear and purple alternating seed beads, then added a couple of pennies to the stuffing to give a little extra weight before attaching a loop of purple ribbon. I messed up a little when positioning the two sides before sewing them together though, so the date side is upside down!

Since making the mock-up, I've modified the design a little and am working on making 30 favours in total.

30! That is a lot of biscornu to be stitching! The design is lovely and it is a very unique favor for a wedding!
